Benthic communities

The benthic communities in the test bed area were characterised from specific field work carried out with a towed underwater camera and by compiling the available information from the eco-mapping study done by the Ministry of the Environment (2007). The underwater videos associated with the transects run in 2011 can be seen using the web application, Underwater videos .

The studies show that there are isolated specimens of the alga Avrainvillea canariensis, classed as “of interest for Canary Island ecosystems” in regional legislation, and areas of highly deteriorated marl.

The most important results are shown in the following figures.
