The benthic communities in the test bed area were characterised from specific field work carried out with a towed underwater camera and by compiling the available information from the eco-mapping study done by the Ministry of the Environment (2007). The underwater videos associated with the transects run in 2011 can be seen using the web application, Underwater videos .
The studies show that there are isolated specimens of the alga Avrainvillea canariensis, classed as “of interest for Canary Island ecosystems” in regional legislation, and areas of highly deteriorated marl.
